A Tree

A tree is a woody plant. All woody plants make their own food to grow. The woody plants consist of three main parts: a trunk, roots, and leaves.

The trunk supports branches and twigs. The main job of the trunk is to conduct water and dissolved materials from the roots. The roots are divided into two main parts: a tap root and fibrous root. The tap root holds the tree firmly so that it doesn't topple over when strong wind blows. The branches of the tap root spread out in every directions. They are called fibrous roots. They absorb water and minerals. The leaves are the food factory of a plant. They make sugar (glocose) from the water and carbon dioxide with the help of sunlight.
